Health and safety represents a critical aspect for farmers, farm workers and visitors to farms to consider. Farmers have legal responsibilities to ensure the health and safety of any employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public who may be impacted by their activities. This module provides information on health and safety training, risks associated with on-farm activities and some key online resources to assist with implementing and improving suitable health and safety processes on a farm.

This module features Mark Thomas, Head of Services at FCN, raising awareness of the impacts of stress and the importance of managing stress, in order to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This module also helps to identify potential sources and symptoms of stress, as well as providing details on where to find further support.

Sarah Starkey from Herefordshire Rural Hub provides an overview of the different farm support groups available and how they can help you. Sarah uses a three legged milking stool as an analogy to show the essential needs of a ‘healthy’ farm. Leg one of the stool represents financial health, whilst legs two and three represent physical and mental health. This module provides information on where to find support for each ‘leg.’
